We’re pleased to introduce a new blog feature, ‘All Made Up’, hosted by hair and makeup artist extraordinaire, Ashley Readings. We work with Ashley on most of our lookbook shoots and other creative projects, and this new collaboration is the perfect way to offer our readers exclusive beauty tips and behind-the-scenes content. Plus, we like any excuse to dress up and have our hair and make up done!

You know that wonderful period of getting to know someone where the dates and the plans don’t really matter because all you want to do is be together? Sitting in park, wandering across town, browsing a bookstore. The what doesn’t matter. Just the who. This is the hair and makeup for that. And good news - you can bring out the red lipstick.

For Quinn it was all about loose, long waves, and clean, fresh skin with a fun lip colour. Because truly, that is what her hair and skin want to do. For an effortless style loosely wrap your hair around a 1in (or larger depending on length) curling iron. Smooth fly aways with spray wax and use a flexible hair spray for longevity and movement. Have fun with lip colour, eyeshadow or blush but keep it simple by playing up one feature over the other. Pinks, reds and corals are our friend!

Unsolicited advice: If your hair is stick straight, long waves will not be an effortless ‘do on you. Keep your look relevant to who you are and how products work with your hair and skin. You can never go wrong with a top knot and a red lip!
