Denim and Pearls
I must admit, though I appreciate classic pieces and understand the importance of incorporating them into your wardrobe, I'm always more drawn to statement pieces when I'm shopping. I'm not one to shy away from colour and print, and am always on the look out for interesting details that add a little je ne sais quoi to a piece and make it stand out. Much to my dismay, I've never been able to master the fine art of minimalist dressing, and am always envious of those women who can pair together a few simple pieces and look effortlessly put together. I'll have to add that to my list of life goals, I suppose.
Over the past few months, as I've embarked on this challenge to limit my spending and found myself having to dig into the dark corners of my closet to rediscover gems I already own, I've developed a newfound love for some of the simplest pieces, instead focusing on using accessories and creative styling to elevate a look.
I've had both this denim jacket and grey dress (which I can't even remember buying) for years. Like, probably over six years, and I don't know when the last time I wore it was. I gave the jacket a bit of a makeover by adding pearl embellishments, and kept the rest pretty simple, with grey and black accents in the hat, tote and shoes, and pearl earrings as a finishing touch to tie it all together. And for a girl who loves her embellishment and considers denim to be a wardrobe staple, I'm kind of loving this classic look with denim and pearls.
