DIY Holiday Wrapping
There are so many things to love about about the holiday season, and for me, gift giving is definitely near the top of that list, as there’s nothing quite like hunting for the perfect gift for that special someone.
Though there are many great options out there when it comes to gift wrapping, I always love to get creative, ensuring that every present will stand out under the tree and have a bit of extra personality. I'm all for jazzing up presents with embellishments you likely already have in your craft drawer, so I put together a few simple ideas.
1 // POM POMS.
A simple addition to any gift, pom poms are a fun and festive way to add a little fun to any gift. I found a few white fur pompoms at the local craft store (I have a few special DIYs in mind for these little beauties), which gave it the perfect snow bunny feel, but you could also play around with colourful or metallic varieties as well, simply attaching them with a hot glue gun. Layering ribbons is also a great way to make a gift a little more unique, and I'm loving the sheer polka dot ribbon layered with a silver one on top.
2 // STICKERS.
If you’re looking for a way to fancy up some craft paper, look no further than the sticker aisle. The brighter the better as far as I'm concerned, and don’t be afraid to play around with the pattern, either opting for one that repeats, or mixing it up with a few different styles. And of course I'm a firm believer that disco balls are always a good idea, so I added a little cluster in the corner of this gift.
3 // AN ENAMEL PIN.
Adding a little flair to an outfit has quickly become a favourite way to accessorize, and I love the idea of accenting a classically wrapped gift with a quirky pin. Not only does it add the perfect embellishment to a simple ribbon, but it acts as a teaser to whatever’s inside, guaranteeing that whoever’s on the receiving end will be excited to open it. I especially love this lipstick pin from Big Bud Press.
4 // A TREE ORNAMENT.
Another great way to add a little something extra to a gift, picking out a special ornament is a great way to add to the celebrations. Think about theming it to the gift itself, and pick out one that will catch the eye of the recipient, so they know that the gift is meant for them.
5 // WASHI TAPE.
Easy to find in a variety of colours, prints and textures these days, washi tape is a great way to dress up plain wrapping paper. I actually used the plain white underside of a roll I wasn’t so crazy about for this one, providing the perfect base for the confetti-inspired tape treatment. Simply cut the washi tape into tiny triangles and stick on the wrapped gift in a random pattern.
