Love Notes (No. 01) — What I'd Like to Be Wearing
What I'd Like to Be Wearing: A visual style diary. A return to ritual. And the rediscovery of personal style. Love Notes is an ongoing study in visual longing, personal style, and thoughtful desire. A slow unfolding of what speaks to me—and an exploration into taste and style.
Not quite a wish list. Not exactly a trend report. Almost a moodboard. Mostly just a collection of things I’m aesthetically obsessing over — pieces that feel like they belong in your closet and in a still life.
This series originally started as a blog column many years ago, and it felt like the right time to bring it back. These mini‑editorials act as visual reminders of what I’m drawn to — tiny collections of the things that have caught my eye, and an ongoing exploration into why.
For this round, I decided each edition would be themed — starting with today’s: what I’d like to be wearing.
Over the past year (or maybe the past six), I’ve been slowly rediscovering and redefining my personal style. It’s taken time—motherhood does that—but I’m finally landing on what feels like me again. And more importantly, enjoying the exploration.
A big part of that has meant editing down my wardrobe and shifting how I shop: choosing slower, independent brands (ideally Canadian), prioritizing thrifted finds, and avoiding fast fashion altogether. My budget is minimal, which makes it easier to be intentional. If something makes it into my closet now, it’s because I truly love it — and plan to keep it.
So here’s where we’re starting.
What you’ll see in this edition:
A brooch that rewrites the idea of “pearls.”
A dress that feels like Sunday, even when life is everything but.
A bag small in size but huge on purpose.
A blouse that looks like a basic but is quietly radical.
A necklace that’s the kind of piece you’ll forget you’re wearing—and then you won’t.
Why this matters
Because style is more than clothes. It’s a language. It’s memory. It’s the kind of thing you take with you when you move through your day, not just the piece you swap in for a special occasion. I want the things I wear to feel lived in, considered, and deeply personal.
Because artistry without intention doesn’t last. And slow habits build stronger wardrobes.

WOLF CIRCUS Bean Pearl Brooch
A pearl brooch that’s anything but ordinary—and definitely not from your grandmother’s jewelry box. It blends my current fixation with asymmetry and imperfect forms (especially cast in silver) with my forever love for pearls. Feminine, but with an edge. Would wear it on a wool coat while pretending I’m starring in my own romantic film that no one will ever see.

GILLIAN STEVENS Freya Dress
A dress that feels like a Sunday. The kind you wear when you have nowhere to be—but still want to dress up. My ideal wardrobe leans vintage-inspired, with extra points for anything nightgown-adjacent. Honestly, most Gillian Stevens pieces live on my wishlist, but I’ve had my eye on this dress since it launched this summer. Fall styling would have me layering it with a chunky knit and suede accessories. Romantic, but lived-in. Just how I like it.

ABBY ALLEY Soirée Bag
Small, but far from delicate. A bag that looks just as good perched on a stool as it does on your wrist. Handcrafted in East Africa, the Soirée is more than a pretty silhouette—it’s rooted in intentional design and thoughtful collaboration. Every material chosen, every detail considered. Would carry it to dinner and forget to take it off. Because it’s part of the outfit (and story).

LISBETH Lacrima Charm Necklace
I don’t wear much jewelry these days—but the pieces I do wear, I rarely take off. This one’s from Lisbeth, like most of what I reach for, and I love how delicate the little droplet is. I can already picture it layered with my other tiny gold chains — it’s the kind of piece that goes with everything but still feels personal.

SKALL STUDIO June Blouse
A delicate layer that might be classified as a basic, but is anything but. The lace trim, the subtle texture, the ivory pointelle cotton—it’s soft in every sense of the word. Quietly romantic. Easy to wear. I’ve been pairing my version with vintage overalls or worn-in denim, and I’m always on the lookout for similar styles while thrifting, but this Skall Studio blouse gets it just right.
New editions of Love Notes will arrive slowly, intuitively—maybe weekly, probably monthly. Each one a visual study in what’s catching my eye and why.
For now, this one’s about what I want to wear— and the version of myself I imagine inside each piece.
An ongoing study in visual longing, personal style, and thoughtful desire—this series is a slow unfolding of what speaks to me, and why. Follow along for future editions—and maybe, find your next forever piece too.
