Love Notes // Vol. 27
01 // With the holidays fast approaching, it's hard to avoid all the gift guides and decorating ideas that are starting to pop up. To be completely honest, when it comes to our own home, holiday decor often falls to the wayside, as I'm a little burnt out after weeks of creating holiday content for our clients. We do always get a real tree (which I love), but that's about it.
This year though, I've decided that I want to take it one step further and focus on adding a little more holiday cheer — something that feels like us and that we won't be itching to take down the day after Christmas. So I've been exploring some different options and I keep going back to this stunning eucalyptus "wreath". And the fact that it's actually pretty seasonless? Even better. Stay tuned for more on this idea soon...
02 // Basically, this just represents everything I love about the holiday season (and fashion in general, to a certain extent). A little over the top, with lots of texture and sparkle, looking like it came straight out of a fairy tale and begging to be taken for a spin on the dance floor. This is why I need more holiday parties in my life...
03 // As I very slowly try to design our space and pull together the details (time and budget restraints have seriously been working against me here), the one room that feels like it is the most pulled together is our living room. We're still missing a few key pieces (namely a rug and curtains at the moment, plus some accessorizing details and a vintage chair I need to get reupholstered), and I'm trying to determine what the final colour palette is, and more specifically, what my dark tones are going to be. I've been wavering back and forth between navy and a deep forest green, and I think this pairing with the pink might have me sold on this combo. Plus I'm kind of into the idea that the green will also be picked up by all the plants we have in that room (#crazyplantlady)
04 // My prop collection is always growing (though I do try to be fairly intentional with what I add permanently), but one category I've been drawn to recently that I'd love to start playing with more are ceramics — and more specifically, organic-shaped, natural toned ceramics. This little grouping, featuring pieces from Little Upside Down Cake via Bloesem totally fits the bill and is giving me all the minimalist feels.
05 // If you know me at all, you'll know I have quite the weakness for beautifully designed books with gorgeous content, and this book, Eat Beautiful, is at the top of my wishlist these days. Written by Wendy Rowe, a world-renowned beauty and make-up expert, it contains beauty tips and over 70 easy and delicious recipes specifically designed to feed your skin with the nutrients it needs to glow. Sounds pretty good to me! Plus that cover is just so pretty...
06 // Brigitte Bardot will forever be one of my top style and beauty icons, and recently I've found myself revisiting some of my favourite images of her, drawing inspiration for that quintessential 60s look that she nails so perfectly with the just-right tousled hair and lined eyes. Without fail, I always have to talk myself out of cutting my bangs again after flipping through photos of the bombshell.
