When Style and Branding Collide
There was a moment recently when I realized that I have fully embraced the Studio Bicyclette "look" in all areas of my life, and that whether you scroll through the Instagram feed, visit the website or peek into my closet, there's a pretty consistent colour palette and overall style. This, my friends, is what they call lifestyle branding.
Certain elements have always been at the core of the Bicyclette brand. Lots of bright white and dreamy pastels mixed with graphic black and white, often accented with a hint of sparkle or a bit of edge. I used these as guidelines when conducting my seasonal buys and merchandising the shop during my boutique days, and now they tend to define my styling projects and branding work within the studio.
I talk a lot about the importance of storytelling and lifestyle branding, and have built the Studio Bicyclette brand on these ideas over the years. And though I may not be directly involved with the fashion industry at this point, it still inspires a good portion of what I do and is an important piece of my brand story.
Style is a form of personal self-expression, after all, and branding essentially does the same for your business.
My personal style is constantly evolving, but in the same way that my branding has remained true to a certain style over the years and throughout updates, there are definitely certain colours and styles you'll always find in my wardrobe, and more than a few parallels between the Studio Bicyclette brand you see online and what I'm likely wearing on any given day.
Recently, it's been all about those luxe neutral basics with a signature piece or two (hello, perfect pink jacket and pom pom ballet flats!), and when you find a dress like this one that is just as comfortable as your favourite tee, it quickly finds itself in regular rotation. Casual but versatile enough to be dressed up, I've been wearing this Titika piece with oversized sweaters and converse, black booties and a leather jacket, and my favourite colourful spring jackets now that the weather is bare leg friendly.
