Wildfox Summer '14 // Royal Romance
The Wildfox summer lookbook perfectly encompasses everything I love about the season and the dreamy, floral-filled images were just the visual inspiration I've been craving recently. Not an unusual effect from a Wildfox lookbook, as every time they release a new collection, I find myself getting lost in the whimsical fairy tale world that they create, a fact which I am totally ok with!
I love the simplicity of this series, the outdoor garden setting is just perfect and everything feels so natural and ethereal. The gorgeous, soft light caressing the models and their covet-worthy curls (seriously, I wish my hair could do this!), and of course the styling. All those faded pastels, layers of tulle and sheer textures, and the floral crowns and floral-adorned sunnies accessorizing each look and giving it that final, feminine touch.
Wildfox designer Kim Gordon describes the theme behind the collection:
"For me this collection is a love letter to my imagination and how I have to remember to use it even when things get hard. For the inspiration this season I really felt a connection to the 60's and royalty, I thought of a princess trapped and forced into marriage, but who was secretly in love with a soldier, maybe she elopes with him in the end. I liked how she was sad, but also so alive! She relied on her friends and sisters to make it through things, and no matter how rich with material goods, it would still be a struggle to find happiness in herself."
Sounds about right to me, and I don't know about you, but I'm now officially ready for a Wildfox-inspired summer: picnics in the park, sunkissed summer wardrobes and fresh flowers in my hair.
