Love Notes (Vol. 30)

One.

I know, I know. This doesn’t look particularly exciting at first glance. But if you’re anything like me, you’re constantly carrying at least one tote bag around because let’s be honest, you always need an extra tote bag. And I don’t know about you, but all my favourite tote bags that I’ve been carrying around for years now have definitely seen better days, and are often just a little on the small side. So I’m embracing the fact that I need to upgrade, and this linen option from Cultiver is checking all the boxes for me, especially considering it could double as a weekend bag as well.

two.

I think I would have loved these bowls if they were just handcrafted wooden bowls, but they’re actually ikebana dried flower bowls, made right here in Canada. So beautiful. I definitely have my eyes on one for the dining room shelf.

three.

More often than not, you’ll find me wearing small gold hoops with tiny pearls in my secondary hole. I will forever love the pairing of delicate gold jewellery with pearl details, and at this point it’s been a longstanding love affair that I don’t see disappearing anytime soon. And though I’ve come across various earring designs that incorporate these two materials, I’ve never found a pair that’s made my heart flutter like these. That curving, organic shape, and the little pearl tucked right in there like it was always meant to be. Je t’aime.

Four.

There’s something so romantic and class about modern, minimal type paired with a more traditional script. It’s definitely reserved for a certain type of brand or project, but I’ve been patiently waiting for the right opportunity. Oh, and this peachy pink is quite good as well.

five.

There are a few things I always keep my eyes out for when I’m thrifting, and one of them is old books, particularly for the type and layout design and the beautifully worn quality that hint at days gone by and time spent through flipping through the storied pages. I’d recommend your favourite thrift or used book stores, or I’ve also found a few online sellers (like Companion Goods) that sell some curated finds.

SIX.

I just love the shape and texture of this lamp so much. It reminds me of all my favourite ceramic pieces, and I love the idea of bringing that organic vibe into my home in a different way. But I don’t really have anywhere to put it… yet.

Seven.

Colour palette, mixed textures and overall feel. Basically how I want to dress all the time, though I know the top-to-bottom oversized look doesn’t work well on me — nor are satin paints the most practical. But excuse me while I figure out how to infuse a little of this into my wardrobe.

eight.

It’s officially the season of sweaters, and I am fully embracing it. I love my neutrals, and this is one silhouette I’ve had my eyes on, with a slighter shorter body and that classic cardigan button-up. Thinking layered over a vintage cami, in an effort to emulate that previous look in a different way?
