One Last Challenge

heartfeature The blog has been silent for the past week so I just wanted to check in and explain why. If you follow Bicyclette on social media you probably already have a pretty good idea of what's been going on, and though I had every intention of writing a little "please excuse the silence over the next week" post prior to the craziness, of course life got away from me.

Saturday was my final day at 880 Queen St. West, so we've been busy packing everything up and moving out of the space. It's amazing how much work it is to close a store, and not just with the physical move, but also with all of the other tasks that are involved. And then of course there's the emotional aspect of it, and I'd be lying if I said that hasn't been difficult. Though I wasn't expecting to be unaffected by this process, I don't think I was quite prepared for how hard it would hit me, and so it's been a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride.

Not only does everything always take longer than you expect, I also had a number of challenges thrown at me right up until the end. On Saturday morning I took a photo of the little pink Bicyclette heart on the window (as seen above), with the intention of using that as part of my final post to say goodbye to the space after we had finished and locked the door for the final time. But the universe had something else in mind, and a few hours later, as I was removing the vinyl from the front window, it cracked, providing me with my final challenge as a boutique owner and a hefty bill as a parting gift. Not exactly the happy ending I was hoping for, but I guess that's life, right?
