Take Me Out // Le Dolci in The Park
As the weather warms up and the trees around the city all come into bloom, the number of festivals and fun events happening about town rises with the temperature. There is always something new and exciting to check out in Toronto, like the World Pride festivities this June, the Japanese film festival, Caribana, movies in the park, yard sales, the CNE, and countless others! Part of the summertime fun in this city is looking up what’s going on each weekend, and making the (often hard) decision to choose just one or two! This past Sunday alone there was a super cute yard sale by Fieldguided and some of her friends, an Owl’s Brew tasting at BYOB, and a birthday party just a few minutes away from the shop at Le Dolci.
Of course I had to choose the birthday party right?
Le Dolci is a Toronto bakeshop and “fun foodie studio” after my own heart. Pink, white, and bright, Le Dolci offers up fresh lemonade, french macarons, cakes, caramel corn, and just about everything else sweet! Not only do they sell delicious fresh baked goods daily, they also host baking workshops in their cake studio! You can book a class to up your cupcake decorating game, perfect your bread baking skills, or even master the art of macarons. I haven’t found time to participate in a workshop yet, but it’s very high on my list this summer!
To celebrate their third birthday, Le Dolci put together a pop up Snack Shop this past Sunday, complete with a DJ, foodie shirts by Charziie, the Philip’s ice pop cart, and Hot Bunzz. Planned by local superstar Natasha Singh, this super cute event even had a little hangout area set up in the park across the street with pink and yellow flags hung on strings to mark the way. Only minutes from the Bicyclette shop (on the other side of Bellwoods park), this birthday party was just too good to resist!
I stopped into Bicyclette to get dressed up in the perfect summer outfit before heading to Le Dolci to load up on sweets. I chose a peachy pink lemon print dress straight from sunny LA, and accessorized with a gold statement necklace, a Ban.do clutch with gold, mint, and yellow accents, and my go-to Karen Walker tortouise sunnies! I also kidnapped Paige’s adorable pup Nico for the walk, because she’s pretty much a living creampuff, and I just can’t get enough of her cute little face!
With the lilacs in full bloom, the park smelled like floral nectar, but the sugary smell wafting from the doors of Le Dolci was even more enticing. I picked up on a Watermelon Lime Sea Salt ice pop from the Philip’s cart before heading inside for cupcakes and pink lemonade. Once fully stocked on sweets, I headed back to the park to lounge in the sun and get melted strawberry icing all over my face. It was the loveliest way to spend one of the first truly warm Sundays of the year!
‘Take Me Out’ is a new blog series collaboration between Toronto blogger Alyssa, of Random Acts of Pastel and Bicyclette, where she takes her favourite Bicyclette pieces on adventures throughout the city, and brings you along!
