Current inspirations, musings and wanderings, a peek behind the curtains of Slow Dance Studio (and life, because it’s all kind of intertwined at this point). We’ll share some peeks at what we’re working on, what we’re loving and who we’re crushing on (but not like, in a creepy way). There will definitely be some teaching moments, a look at our creative process (yes, the messy side too), and some real talk around what running a creative business really looks like. Sometimes it’ll get a bit personal, and other times, you’ll walk away inspired, or maybe with a new skill or way of looking at things.
One of the biggest struggles I had when I transitioned to the new Studio Bicyclette was figuring out how to tackle the pricing equation. I had a lot of questions, but the two that held me back the most were whether to charge hourly or on a project basis, and how to actually come up with those numbers. See, I come from a retail background where pricing is relatively easy to figure out based on the cost of the items you're selling, especially when you've been doing it for years.

Sure, I was aware of them before, but I hadn't really come across any that spoke to me specifically or felt relevant to what I was doing and what my interests were, personally or professionally. I'm also a serial multi-tasker and tend to get lost in my own daydreams (or brilliant ideas, however you want to position it), so anytime I had tried giving them a listen, I found that I would inadvertently stop paying attention early on and failed to gain anything from the experience.

I’m pretty intentional with how I spend my time on Pinterest these days, limiting my daydreaming pinning sessions so I don’t get too carried away and it doesn’t eat into my day too much or decrease my productivity. But when it comes to creating an inspiration board, there’s no better place to start, and I’d like to think I’ve mastered the fine art of Pinterest inspiration gathering, and in turn I’ve seen it benefit my business and drive traffic to the blog as one of the top referral sites.
